Neutron stars with holographic equation of state for the nuclear matter

Supervisor: Dr. Alex Buchel

Project Description (Abstract):

Gauge theory/String Theory correspondence establishes a relation between a four-dimensional quantum gauge theory (the fundamental theory of interactions of subatomic particles) and classical (super)gravity in higher space-time dimensions. This holographic correspondence allows for first-principle computation of the equation of state of nuclear matter at nonzero density (something that is challenging with other conventional methods). The project involves computation of the holographic equation of state and applying the obtained results to predict observational signatures of the astrophysical neutron stars mergers in ongoing LIGO experimental program.
