Information for prospective students

Graduate studies

I am seeking potential graduate students for the following project areas:

• Development of methods for rapid 3D prototyping of patient-specific vascular phantoms (physical models) compatible with laser particle image velocimetry (PIV)
• Development of laser stereo particle image velocimetry methods for studying aneurysm wall vibrations
• Development and characterization of microfluidic devices (using micro-PIV, atomic force microscopy, etc) for various applications
• Studying endothelial cell mechanobiology using microfluidic devices.

Opportunities are available for students with diverse interests and backgrounds, and interested students may wish to apply through one of several different programs (Physics, Medical Biophysics, Biomedical Engineering).

Summer research for undergraduate students

Undergraduate students interested in summer research opportunities should enquire about applying for an NSERC Undergraduate Summer Research Award (USRA). See our departmental website for more information.
Note:
1. Internal deadline for Western Physics & Astronomy is in early January, so apply early,
2. NSERC awards include travel allowances (i.e. if you apply to work at a different university),
3. You may apply to more than one university (but 1 department per university).
