Recommended Course Schedules


The following is a list of courses that are strongly recommended for Physics & Astronomy students:

First Year Course Selection

Fall:

  1. Required: Phys 1501 (preferred) or 1301 (acceptable)
  2. Required: Calculus 1500 (preferred) or 1300 (acceptable)
  3. Recommended for Fall/Winter/Summer: Math 1600 (Linear Algebra, required for module entrance)
  4. Recommended option: Chemistry 1301
  5. Recommended option Fall/Winter: Computer Science 1026 or Elective

Winter:

  1. Required: Phys 1502 (preferred) or 1302 (acceptable)
  2. Required: Calculus 1501 (preferred) or 1301 (acceptable)
  3. Recommended for Fall/Winter/Summer: Math 1600 (Linear Algebra, required for module entrance)
  4. Recommended option: Chemistry 1302
  5. Recommended option Fall/Winter: Computer Science 1026 or Elective

Second Year Course Selection

Fall:

  1. Phys 2101 (Intermediate Physics)
  2. Phys 2910 (Second Year Lab)
  3. Applied Math 2402 (Ordinary Differential Equations)
  4. Calculus 2502 (Advanced Calculus)
  5. Elective, one of:
    • Math 1600 (Linear Algebra, required if not yet taken)
    • Phys 2600 (Introduction to Medical Physics)
    • Astro 2801 (Stars, Galaxies, Cosmology)
  6. Phys 2950 (Undergraduate Seminar)

Winter:
