The Distribution of Be Star Circumstellar Disk Masses

Project Description (Abstract):

Be stars are thought to arise from episodes of “critical rotation” on the main sequence, in which photospheric gas is ejected into a circumstellar disk. The mass distribution of these disks offers a unique way to constrain models of stellar evolution including rotation. This project will model the emission line spectra, spectral energy distributions, and interferometric visibilities for a sample of Be stars to reliably determine their circumstellar disk masses.
