Saturday March 10, 2018 saw hundreds of visitors descend on the atrium of the Physics and Astronomy building for March Break Open House. The event provides incoming undergraduate students and their parents the oppotunity to meet and interact with faculty, staff and students to learn why Western offers the best student experience among Canadian universities.
Approximately 6,000 people visited campus this year for March Break Open House, many of them passing through the PAB atrium to visit the Faculty of Science departmental displays.
The department of Physics and Astronomy hosted a special Student/Alumni Meet & Greet event — featuring alumnus Ian Mulholland (now with Info-Tech) and fourth-year students Nicole Barucha and Sergio Dempsey — with about 30 student and parent participants.
The event would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of our student, faculty and staff volunteers. A big thank you to our student volunteers: Julia Bruce-Robertson, Tim Hallatt, Sean Huggins, Mark Krammer, Stella Liu, Adrian Mahjour, Claire Park, Mark Baker and our Meet & Greet participants Ian, Nicole, and Sergio; faculty volunteers: Pauline Barmby, Sarah Gallagher, Lyudmila Goncharova, Jeff Hutter, Bob Sica, Mahi Singh, Eugene Wong, and Martin Zinke-Allmang. As well as Jennifer Tilston, Sab Ezugwu and Phin Perquin for organizing both before and on the day, and Phin for the photos.
