Quality of Life

The Department of Physics and Astronomy recognizes the importance of a good work/life balance, and provides graduate students with opportunities to destress outside the classroom or lab. Our graduate students have their own lounge in the recently renovated Physics and Astronomy building, where you can eat lunch, play some ping pong or a board game or just hang out and socialize.

The Physics & Astronomy graduate student council actively organizes outings and events throughout the year, from skating to canoeing, playing curling or trips to the beach, the international potluck lunch to halloween pumpkin carving contests, there are plenty of chances to enjoy some leisure time with your classmates and colleagues.

Western also has many services available to assist with your physical and mental health and wellness.

As well as plenty of resources to help you thrive in graduate school.
